1. Practice data

The sentences you type during dictation practice are processed entirely in your browser and are not collected or stored on our servers. Audio playback uses your browser's built-in speech feature, which does not send text to any external server.

2. Saved practice progress

To help you continue where you stopped, HearWriteEnglish stores browser-only practice data in localStorage. This may include your selected A1–C2 practice band, exercise progress, pronunciation preference, Listening Snapshot, and My Review data such as sentences where a genuine listening difference was detected, the listening pattern involved, your recent answer and whether you later cleared that item. Spelling-only differences are not added to My Review. This information stays on that device, is not a user account, is not automatically sent to our servers and does not sync between devices. You can remove it by clearing this site's browser data.

3. Contact form

If you submit the contact form, your name, email and message are sent to us via Netlify Forms so we can respond. A small flag is briefly held in your browser's sessionStorage to show the confirmation message; it is removed automatically and cleared when you close the tab.

4. Hosting and technical data

HearWriteEnglish is hosted on Netlify, which may log standard technical data such as IP address and browser type for security and performance purposes.

5. Pro subscriptions and payments

If you join HearWriteEnglish Pro, checkout and subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe may collect information such as your name, email address, billing details, payment method information, IP address and other information needed to process the transaction and prevent fraud. HearWriteEnglish does not receive or store your full card number. We may receive subscription and transaction information from Stripe so we can manage your membership, provide support and keep billing records.

6. Optional Google Analytics

HearWriteEnglish uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only when you choose Accept analytics. Analytics helps us understand information such as which pages and learning features are used, how visitors arrive at the site, and whether learners return. If you choose Reject analytics, HearWriteEnglish does not send our optional GA4 events. Your choice is stored in your browser so we can remember it.

You can change your decision at any time using the Privacy choices button on the site. When analytics is enabled, Google may process technical and usage information under Google's own terms and privacy practices.

7. Advertising

HearWriteEnglish may use Google AdSense in the future. Advertising consent for visitors in regions where it is required will be handled separately through a Google-certified consent management platform. Accepting optional HearWriteEnglish analytics does not grant consent for personalised advertising.
